Hi guys -
I need to know what to disconnect to set timing on a 87. I remember there is a wire or something that needs to be dissconnected? Also, I remember that the stock timing is not necesarilly the best? any advice appreciated-
Thanks Spoke

You'll need to disconnect the EST wire.
In my '85 it's between the brake booster and the valve cover, it's a single wire with a connecter that can be taken apart. If you pick up a cheapo haynes manual, it shows a pretty good picture of it. (BTW- with that EST wire disconnected, you'll throw a code, so you might want to reset that afterwards).
On my '85 the base timing is set at 6*BTDC
