Best weatherstripping adhesive remover?
I'm trying to remove the windshield header weatherstripping and it's so old/hard that it's coming off in chunks when I touch it. Needless to say, the edges with adhesive are proving to be difficult to remove. I've got a can of 3M spray adhesive remover, but it doesn't appear strong enough. Anyone got a better product? The guy who sells the new weatherstripping mentioned a specific 3M weatherstripping adhesive remover, but I've been unable to find it if it does exist...
Thanks.

Yep and works great.
3M Weatherstrip Adhesive Cleaner
Actually Ecklers or MAD carry it, I'm certain a local automotive paint dealer who carries 3M which most do, would also have it. I think there is a chain called Finishmasters.
You can also get it online from 3M resellers.
The best results I've see from it is use a dry terry cloth towel like you find in those bundles at auto parts stores and spray it on the affected area what a minute or two spray again then wipe with the towel. It will basically peel away.

I used the 3M Adhesive remover, too. Works great. I used the emblem and weatherstrip adhesive recently to repair one of the center cap emblems on my passenger side rear wheel before it flew off.

This stuff?
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...A&dept_id=1519
It's got a different part number from what I got locally, but seems to be called the same stuff. What I have is not working well...

Keep in mind it's not like you spray it on and instantly the old adhesive just wipes off. As I was saying earlier, give it a spray let it work just a bit (15 mins?) then another quick spray and rub with a terry towel. It will peel the old material off. You can do the same thing with your finger but there are too many sharp edges and you'll wear the skin on your finger out LOL.
I use to scrap and that was dangerous and messy. This way your left with no damage to the body or retainers.

I'd sprayed and given 10 mins, then used a plastic drywall knife. No dice, but it looks like I was indeed using the wrong stuff. I'll try a different parts store tomorrow. Thanks for all the help, guys!
Oh, and I've got a stack of old terry hand towels that I'll try as well.
