Default Narrowed Corvette C4 suspension with Viper rear end

Here are some pictures of the modified rear cover assembly from a Viper to work with a narrowed C4 suspension.

Last night, we welded the stanchions for the inner tie rods on the Viper subplate assembly for the Corvette suspension. The subplate assembly has been polished, which accounts for a distorted view due to reflections in the photographs.

The bosses for the C4 lower camber bar still need to be welded on the other side of the subplate.

On another project, we are putting a Frankland Champ quick change assembly with C4 Corvette suspension. The 1957 Chevy convertible frame design has been changed so that the rear floor and trunk will not need to be cut for this all to slip under.

We welded the quick change supports together last night, and set them in the polished frames just to see how they look. They will be welded to the frames once the bosses have been machined out to accept the rubber isolation bushings.

Our plans are to weld the front stainless crossmenber for the narrowed front C4 suspension this weekend. We all know how plans can fail to work out though.

I can think of a few on this forum who would push the limits of even that Viper D44...

But if it works I'd have a home for another one of those...not narrowed, but I can sure use the reliability of that Viper Dana over the stock C4 unit.

Nice work...

Look great, my only concern is that the Viper halfshafts were never meant to be used as the upper suspension links. They have a double a-arm out back.

Brian, you are correct about the the Viper using A arms at the rear. The differential however is a duplicate internally to the Corvette Dana Super 44. The only difference noticeable is a crush sleeve on the pinion on the Viper. The output yokes use the same bearings as the Corvette. This should work fine as long as yoke end play is set at Corvette specifications.
