How much fluid does the 700R4 hold?

Default How much fluid does the 700R4 hold?
I'm going to do a complete flush per the Tech Tip. How much trans fluid do I need to have on hand for a thorough flush on an automatic? Thanks in advance.

An automatic 700 requires 4.5 quarts of Dexron III transmission fluid. Its around 4 pints or so for a manual.

For a complete fluid change, torque converter included you are looking at around 10 qts.

I would think this is more in line then 4-5 quarts. 4-5 quarts would be if you are just dropping the pan and replacing the filter and gasket.

My FSM says 10 quarts for the 700R4. The 4+3 manual takes 2 pints of gear lube for the 4 speed section and 4 pints of ATF for the OD section.
