Default 3.73 gears wind out at ?

My 93 with 3.73 seems to wind out at 130 mph. At this speed the engine feels like its revving with no power behind it. Is this what you guys are experiencing with your 3.73 or 4.10s. The car gets to that speed very quick but at that speed my rpms are screamming.

No! At that speed Im letting off the gas or my rpms go well pass the red zone with no pull. Im wondering if its the gears causing this or my new tranny that was put in last year has issues. Its a hard hitting tranny with a 2400 stall. This isnt that big of a deal since I shouldnt be going that fast anyways butt I was just wondering if its common. This tranny wont let you manually shift out of first. It automatically does it regaurdless even if you leave it in first selector. After second you then need to shift it to third manually. Also it wont go into OD in WOT which sucks. You have to let off the gas a little and let it slip in. I will be back thurs. with replys. Busy tonight! Thanks all

I dont remember having high speed issues with stock tranny, but I did use that 3200 stall once I got the car.

u hit 130 and the trany is sliping?
is it in 4th (OD) at that speed?
if its slipping then your 3/4 clutch pack could be going
i wish i could add more to this but i am unclear as to what exactly is happening

Now it is a transmission issue? Reread your opening post:

There was no mention of the transmission in the opening post, only the axle ratio. Post #2 even HAD to ask "auto or manual?". Just what is it you would like to know? If you have any idea, yourself.

A little reality check

At 130mph you should be turning approximately4600rpm in OD and 6600 in 3rd gear.......

So if you are really screaming you must either be in 3rd gear or you have a problem of some sort......

130 mph = 6500 rpm in 3rd. You have some sort of 3-4 upshift issue at wot. 700R4 or 4L60, 4L60E? The governor (weights and springs) if equipped may require some recalibration.

Did it used to shift into OD at wot?

After 4 posts by bobmic93, it looks like he may have a transmission issue, rather than rear end ratio, as expressed in the first post. It sounds as though he as an Impala or pick up truck transmission in his Corvette, that allows shifts, rather than holding, manually selected gears. and won't stay in OD at WOT, like only a Corvette trans will.

I dont know if its slipping. Im in 4th and at 130 rpms are soaring with no pull. No racing for me beyond 130 without risking harm to my motor.

whats the top speed of a stock auto? I know manuals can hit 170 with a tailwind. Im guessing autos were a touch slower? then minus the loss going to a 3.73. Either way 130mph shouldnt be a top speed.. I just did that in my olds aurora..
