3 Year Battle With SES Light!
I have had my 90 L98 for 3 years. I've tried everything to make my Service Engine Soon Light stop coming on. It reads the infamous code 32 by the way. I've replaced the egr contol solenoid, the egr valve, all of my vaccum lines, my MAP sensor, O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor and all tpi gaskets including the intake gasket. I've also verified no vaccum leaks. The light comes on when I'm cruising and the car heats up. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad

If you find out, let me know!! I'm having the same problem...the mechanic is taking it this Thursday to try and resolve it. I hear alot of the C-4s have the same problem though, but it doesn't seem to affect the performance.

I get it too, once in a while. I just ignore it. The car runs fine.
Doi you have an Airfoil in your car?

My Vette had a 3 year SES problem that no one could diagnose. A few dealerships, local trustworthy (in my opinion) mechanics, etc. The dealerships wanted to replace the ECM, but since the car seemed totally fine, good mileage, started etc, we left it alone. A few months ago I changed the MAF burn-off relay and MAF power relay, and VIOLA, no more SES light, no puff of smoke on startup, a MPG or two. All for $20 and 20 minutes. On my 88 these relay are behind the battery on the firewall and I needed to re-use the factory mount for the relays. Just a suggestion.

No airfoil. And Bob Machus, no MAF on my car, thanks anyway.

You could have a sick ECM. For $110 you can "prove" it. Look at all the money you spent trying to cure the SES problem. Its a cheap experiment.

I don't think there is an egr temp switch on a 90. I havn't seen one anywhere.
If there is where is it?

Mine is on the EGR pipe from the pass. side exhaust manifold. The lead going into it was loose and causing the switch to ground out too early.

Have you, or the previous owner, done any intake or exhaust modifications to the car. The 90 and 91, which were the only two years of speed density L-98, are very sensitive to modifications that change the pressure balance between intake and exhaust. The EGR is a negative pressure system on these cars. I put on Flowmasters, no problem. Ported the plenum, no problem. Last winter I ported the base intake and gasket matched, then I got Code 32. I couldn't resolve it so I went to an aftermarket chip to shut off the light. If you only get it a high speed light throttle cruise (50 mph or greater), then I think your exhaust or intake has been modified and you will not get rid of the problem so don't spend any more money until you can verify that everything is stock.
