Default Direct Port on a Superram

Has anybody here actually done it? I'm thinking the runners are too thin and I'll need to weld a boss on them for more meat before I drill. I remember seeing some bungs welded on somebody's intake, but I don't think the nozzle would have enough length to get the orifice in far enough combining the thickness of the bung and the runner.

They won't fit. There's just not enough room between the fuel rails and the plenum.

I know it was done to a freinds LPE 406 car - unless the castings have changed since the 1990's, it worked for him

11.3 on motor, 10.2 on NOS

I bought a set that were drilled and tapped for fogger nozzles. he had some material welded on the inside and the outside.

He also had the runners extrude honed before the welding. I went ahead and removed the inside weld since it looked like it was going against flow. I also smoothed out the outside weld and polished the runners.

I never got around to installing the nozzles back in it, so I put allen screws in it to cap it, then I used a dremel and smoothed those out as well.

I dont have any pics handy, and since I moved, it will be a while till I do. I have the whole top end ripped apart still, so maybe in time I will get around to it.

these are the only photo's of the outside I have, and that is by random chance.

in these pics you can barely tell what he had welded on to them, but maybe it will give you some ideas.

Thanks 89x2, those are good pics although I think it can be done a little cleaner

Bill, it was your car I remembered the pics of. Are those bungs that were welded in or did somebody weld in a boss and then tap it? It's hard to tell any detail from the pics.

They just welded on a boss I guess. If that is the term for a wad of aluminum. Then they drilled and tapped it.

No bungs on the teal car - no problems - I believe they were tapped while at LPE???
