I have a 1994 convertible automatic transmission. I installed a K&N air cleaner as the only modification. Should I use a chip change...What do others think is the best bang for $300 bucks. Thx Elmer in Dallas

Save just a little more money and put in 3:73 rear gears, your "slow" problems will be "over" :yesnod: :yesnod:

I agree with GUMPA. Save a few more dollars and swap the gears. There's really no bolt on out there for $300 that's gonna make a noticeable difference.

I'm not a fan of NOS, but it does have the most HP per buck.

I'd say throw out the stock mufflers... When I replace mine, it was the biggest performance increase out of all my minor mods...

The stock set up is very restrictive for sound control...

Gears are really expensive.

Mid America sells 3.73 for $1299 for automatic and $1499 for manual.
just a "little" more than $300

Basic stuff- Ram air, cat-back exhaust (will run you about $700-$1200 for whole system), and chip does help a little. Also, when you get a chance, look for a good ignition system.

Exhaust, Chip, and Ignition will EVENTUALLY pay for itself (depending on how much you drive), because they all give you better gas milleage. Although I don't think you could drive enough to get what you payed out of it, it is worth it for the sound/performance.

Just my .02,
Andy

I agree with the rest of the guys, changing your mufflers and your CAT to a high flow CAT (if that is an issue in TX. I am in CA.) and modifying your air filter will show some diffinite improvement for the amount of money you want to spend. Horsepower is not cheap so if you want it, unfortunately you will have to pay the price like the rest of us on these Vettes.

Gears Gears Gears. the gearset itself is about $300 plus installation. But if you have some mechanical knowledge you can do MOST of the labor yourself. I definently reccomend haveing someone set up the gears that knows what they are doing. then get your speedo corrected. it should be worth between 3-7 tenths depending on your stocl gear
