Crap!! Heads are toast too!!
First found out block was cracked, now looks like the heads are gone too. Water passages are all ate up and eroded away. Was bad enough that this is what caused the blown head gasket. Time for new motor with a nice set of heads!!

Man, you just can't win, can you?
Sorry to hear about the latest bad news.
So....what's the plan? You already decided to build a 383, are the heads at least reusable for a port and polish?

Unfortunately, all too common on the early aluminum head motors. According to Chevy, the problem starts with a leaking intake which sets up galvanic corrosion which then eats up the head gasket (usually at #7). Redesigned in Nov '89, but was only put into production for the '91 L98. I'd also replace the Radiator and Heater Core.

SunCR is right. If you leave the rad and heater core, any goo from that break down would be trapped in there.
Get some nice AFR heads or something. Trick Flows are nice, as are Edelbrock.

oh geeez Tom.
Not to rub it in your face, but I just picked up a motor to do my 383 build on my 35th. You should do the same!

Tom, so sorry for the unfortunate result
As a side note, I can't understand the idea that one has to wait (could take years & years!) to do an engine upgrade. It would seem to me the need arises the day that person buys the car, unless of course its already been done.
