I am runing the mini ram on my L98 as one of many performance improvements. Don't know what your plans are, but the intake by itself will not do much good. I bolted mine up with everything else pretty much stock and the dyno results went down in both HP and TQ. Once I built my total engine though, the results are impressive. I use my car for track only (HPDE) and like the way it runs and the ability to pull strong the whole way to 6500RPM.

I had some fitment issues with the manifold and am not real impressed with their QC, but it all worked out in the end.

i love my mini, if you hammer the car on a frequent basis and you love to rev the hell out of it, get the mini. i agree with wndplr, get the right a cam when you get the mini. a stock l98 cam with a mini, sucks.

What about the differences in a MR in an auto vs. a 6 speed?

MR is better suited to a 6

Automatic has a D36, which wont have the gear ratio choices for the rear, and 4 speeds to pick from which I dont believe goes well with a high rpm engine.

MR will pull to 6500-7000 rpms with a GM 847 cam, GOOD set of heads and exhuast and at least 3.73 gears.

Default mini ram

Well I have the 2.59 gears so it doesn't sound like the mini ram would be a good choice for the street. I have a ported plenum and as&m big tube runners with stock base .Do you think its possible to port my stock base to get better flow?I partially ported it on the runner side before putting it back on.Dont know as it made a difference.I was thinking of taking it back off and porting the head side of the runners .It looks like I could gain some flow there. I bought the edlebrock piece but didnt like the quality so I sent it back.

Well I guess I need to pull the MR off this automatic car and look for something else?

BTW, I shift it at ~6200!

As others have stated the mini ram is only part of a total engine build up. I love mine but I did heads, cam, and exhaust also at the same time. My goal was to see how far I could go without replacing any drive train parts or breaking them, and I wanted to be able to pass IL emissions. After learning to do my own chip burning I finally have a solid running car that passes emissions on the roller and pulls hard to 6200 and the mini ram is an solid part of that package.

In my experience, the MiniRam on an otherwise stock L98 does a very good job. It has a nice flat usable torque band, even with a stock cam. It a lot better than most would like to believe. Sure you will have 30-40 ft-lbs less peak torque, but that torque extends all the way to 4500 rpms before dropping off some. From my ancient stock dynograph, the drop off on a stock TPI intake seems to peak at 3000 rpms and drops off like a rock by 3400 rpms. Looks like I had less than 200 ft-lbs of torque by 4500 rpms with that old TPI intake. With a MiniRam, I still have about 295 ft-lbs of torque at that same rpm and more to go!
