Default Flushing Coolant on an 87

I want to completely flush the coolant out of this 87. Is this possible: Putting a water hose in the upper radiator hose (connect the water hose to the thermostat opening on the intake), then turn the water on full blast, and start the car. Would my car just overheat automatically or what? Any ideas? I'm gonna disconnect the lower radiator hose, so the coolant pours into a bucket.

HELLO
I think you might also undo the heater hose at the waterpump, and run water up that hose and that will empty out the heater core!!!!
