Looks Like a Turbo Kit for C4's is Finally on the Way!

Jerry is going to BG.
Right now here's the plan.
LT1 Car to OK sometime in the next few days (Jerry is driving it)
LT1 Tune
LT5 car to OK within the next week (Jerry is also driving that one)
LT5 Tune maybe...
Both cars driven from OK to Nashville Mon/Tue, ZR1 tuned or not. (Jerry and a friend)
Jerry picks me up Wed in Nashville 1530 hrs then we drive both cars to BG.
Option 2: I take delivery of my (possible) new Ruby Z in Nashville and all 3 of us drive north

Help a brother out
That rear mount turbo seems like a smooth/easy way to get an LT1 powered vette to run with (or even outrun) a C6. Wouldn't it be sweet to have the looks of a C4 to go along with the performance of a C6. Hauling *** without a big *** is what I'm after. I know that I could build a heads/cam motor that could compete, but I dont' want the compromises that go along with a high rpm motor. You guys need to fast track that rear mount turbo. Cmmonalready.

yes ,I think we've waited long enough.I'm ready to throw some cash if it works, must be upgradeable from the standard boost because I'm looking for 12-15psi. there is another forum member building a kit, I wonder how its coming along?

The "base" system is planned to support appx 700 Hp if you want to turn the wick up a bit and mod the engine to live with it. Glad to see someone is thinking ahead!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the LT1/LT4 prototype test car is nearly complete. The ZR-1 is next in the fab shop and the L98 after that. Having said that, we now have to test & tune, then remove the system to send out to CNC mandrel tubing shops for quotes & enter into a mfg schedule with the best vendor. Then, the first run will again have to be installed & tested for fit & function. Only then will a production run be made & offered for sale. We're not going to put out anything until it works good, fits good & looks good. We wouldn't have it any other way and neither would you.
Thanks for the interest. We know you'll be pleased with the results.

Here's my suggestion:
Contact your favorite builders/tuners and see what they recommend with turbo boost. There are lots of combinations to choose from, but the foundation is low compression & 15+ psig boost in a purpose-built bottom end and effective combustion sealing. We're gonna leave that up to you guys to do it your way.
We just provide the turbo system

I can tell you I ordered a shortblock from Golen engines. Forged crank, h beam rods, and forged pistons. Also, they o-ringed the block. Chad tells me with reworked factory heads, and good head bolts, it can handle 15lbs boost and 750hp. Its 9 to 9.25 compression. That may give you some idea of a build.
FWIW I think the big problem with any of these motors is going to be keeping the rest of the running gear together.

Hi...
Still interested in what the IAT's are sans IC with all that plumbing (stock boost)?
Thanks!

No numbers yet but here is an update...
As of 16 June 07...
The LT1 Car is back in Las Vegas and is still being finished...
We had the new shop redue the prior work. We had them take it completely apart and redone with SS TIG welds replacing the Carbon Steal MIG welds.
The intake system with inter-cooler was re-designed and should be together this weekend.
After the pipping is back together both hot & cold the car will to the other side of the shop to get the boost & fuel pressure gage pod installed as well as the electronics for the oil pump return system. The car will then get it's dyno tune. Hopefully Jun 19/20.
After the work in Vegas is finished we'll ship it to CA (where the ZR1 is getting completed) for final kit production. It will take about a week to get a final price and then another week to have kits available.
We're getting close but there has been some significant road-blocks all rapped around less than honorable fabricators. I'm sure they'll be a few more slight delays as we address issues that arise. Just realize our goal is to produce a high quality/durable kit that will give you trouble free service.
Cheers,
RH
