290 lbs or more, worth of weight savings...
The absolute curb weight of a base 89 C4 coupe is 3238 lbs, plus or minus 10 lbs. My Vette happens to be just that, except it has the RPO C68 digital climate control and the 3.07 gear, whatever that RPO code is
Curb weight is defined as the weight of a base model car fully ready to go with all fluids, including a full tank of gas. This information was taken from idavette.net and is consistent with other sources.
The following items are what I currently have excluded/changed/modified of/from my Vette:
(Weight of the items has been underestimated and rounded down for conservative and anti-exaggerating reasons)
Gasoline weighs about 6 lbs per gallon, about 120 lbs with a full tank of gas. Lets say you have 5 gallons in your tank. 90 lbs
Spare tire & assembly 50 lbs
Passenger seat - 40 lbs
Lighter 16 Camaro wheels 40 lbs
Water pump Frisbee 10 lbs
Smog pump assembly and associated ducting 10 lbs
Miniram weight difference vs. the stock TPI intake 10 lbs
Lighter, less clunky and cluttery stock exhaust replaced with catless true dual exhaust 10 lbs
Power to manual seat rails 10 lbs
Removal of cruise control 5 lbs
Stock plastic intake ducting from 85-89 Vettes 5 lbs
Fiberglass top to glass top 5 lbs
Removal of alternator bracket and smog pump bracket (I have an alternator relocation kit/smog pump bypass kit and shorter belt from forum member redrose) 3 lbs
Complete removal of EVAP system 2 lbs
This is about 290 lbs worth of weight savings!
So that means the weight of my car without me is 2948 lbs, plus or minus 10 lbs.
With the driver (me) weighing in at 140 lbs, this makes my Vette weigh in at about 3088 lbs. Just a heads up on how light you can really make your TPI Vettes with minimal effort.
ps: I hope my math is correct...

why don't you go to your nearest landfill (if you go here it's free) and have the car weighed, and see how close you really come to the number you calculated.

I remember weighing in my car at a truck weigh station in early 2005 and with me in it, the whole car weighed in at 3329 lbs + a full tank of gas, about a couple days before I was gonna drag race it for the first time. If you subtract my weight then, 120 lbs the car would have weighed in at 3209 lbs. This was when the car was bone stock, untouched, unmolested, except for the fact that some owner before me already gutted the cats.

Nah, I plan on keeping this car forever. This is the only car I have ever owned for almost 3 years in a row. In the event I ever get tired of EFI, I'll switch over to carb. Right now, I'm having a blast burning my own chips for my own tunes for my own car's needs. Car runs great and I drive to and from work about 50-60 miles a day depending on the route I choose. Now that's something to be proud of. Who needs to pay for a prom burning/dyno tuning service when me and a few other forum members do it themselves? Glad to see that sometimes its better to change what GM says always should be.

Man just leave the car intact and put some more power to it. You wont gain much from 200 lbs or so but you will have a kobbledVette that nobody else will want. Heck, just make it a track only car for that matter. .

No, more like a street/strip car. Its a very reliable daily driver. Having less weight on the car probably would save gas mileage as well. Oh, and trust me, there's gonna be a lot more power from kobbledvette pretty soon. I might have a kobbledvette, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I'm not gonna be selling it anytime soon. I just don't like having all that extra clutter around that I don't ever use, e.g. emissions garbage. Hell, who needs clean air anyway when we pollute the air each time we fart at least 50 times a day? Ladies, that includes you! Plus, I'm not moving to any Cali-wannabe, emissions testing area anytime soon. There's an article about Florida ending all emissions testing stations because it will save us taxpayers about $52 million a year!!! Good! That is a lot less of my tax dollars going to some welfare recipient living in some gov. funded shack out there...

I weighed my car a few weeks ago: 2930 with 1/2 tank of gas (me not in it).

Blah, the site is down for some reason....

You can also drain out the windshield washer fluid and remove the container and pump. You can keep other fluids like coolant and oil just above the "low" levels. Those two-piece brake rotors seem to cut weight also (Baer Eradispeed I believe). And the security shade. You could probably remove the carpeting, or the padding behind it, and lose some weight. That seems kind of extreme, but then again, you took your passenger seat out...
That's pretty big weight savings on the wheels, though, 10 lbs per corner. I thought the magnesium Dymags were in that ballpark of weight savings over the stock 17" wheels.

I took the passenger seat out because there is a lot more stuff I can transfer to and from work. Seems like I have about twice the cargo capacity without it being there.

I need to drop that amount just to get back to stock weight if I'm in the car

not sure i follow. 140 is still far below the average male. it about on par with the average female, no scratch that, its still somewhat less than most adult women on the planet.
