Default Ticking motor

After my stock 92 warms up a little the motor gets a knocking/ticking sound. You can't really notice it while driving but when I put it in park and let it idle it will start ticking. It goes away and then comes back.

The first place I went to 2 months ago gave me some fuel injector cleaner and said to try that. It didn't work after 2 tanks of gas.

I took it to another mechanic and he thought it was the lifters so he tightened them. I got it home and it was still doing it so I went back and he thinks it might be fuel injectors and gave me some cleaner to put in my tank. I am right back where I was before.

Does that sound like it could be the injectors? How much should I expect to pay (including labor) if I need new fuel injectors?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

I have a couple of pretty loud injectors. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I don't.

Doubt it's the lifters unless you never change your oil or had the manifold off and got some dirt in them. Injectors can make noise. Put a stethoscope up to 'em and listen.

Possibly an exhaust leak?? My engine sounds like it's ticking after it gets warmed up a little but 2 people have told me it's an exhaust leak.

how long has it been since you changed your oil? also, if you have to replace your injectors, get 24lb/hr instead of GM's overpriced 22's.

My 72,000 mile LT4 does a similar thing and I'm betting it is an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold to head junction. I will be replacing them this winter.

It is hardly noticable...

Chevy's are known to have a "tick", and it's usually the injectors.

I also have the same tick in my '92. Doesn't do it all the time though.

Thanks for all the input guys. Yeah, I have gotten the oil changed and have been running the injector cleaner in it.

I think I'll mention the exhaust thing to my mechanic and have him check that out before he starts doing anything major to it. I really sounds like it's coming from the engine though.
