Default 22 lb or 24 lb injectors for stock 1988

What was the OEM fuel injuector for a 1988 coupe? Was it 22lb or 24 lb? If I want to find OEM injectors, what am I looking for?
I see some of you use Ford injectors. Why, are they better, cheaper or what? If I look for ford injectors, what is the application I should be looking for?
My car is stock and I am loosing fuel pressure. It starts out at 43lb but goes down to about 20lb within 10 minutes or so. I have followed the procedures in the manual and have determined it is not in the tank.
I know the injectors were replaced with 85 - 93 Accel Fuel injectors from Mid America. The part number is 606611A. I think these are aftermarket, is that correct? Does anyone know if these are remanufactured or new? Also, would these be 22lb or 24 lb?

Thanks
Rich

22 lbs. should be correct for your car, I believe. It's not over that, of that I'm sure.

I read a lot about Accel brand leaking. People get the Ford injectors because they are decent and a good price. Jegs and Summit carry them. Racetronix, a supporting vendor, has injectors as well.

22# is the correct rating for your year.

22lb for you. You can buy some Ford SVOs with an AFPR. We use those because they are good quality and at a good price.

Accel's have been known to leak out-of-the-box new, so I would throw them in the trash.

Yep, your 88 came stock with 22 lb/hr injectors. I would replace them with 22's.

88 Coupe: Your car came with either a Bosch style or Lucas style 22 # injector from the factory. Both of these are very reliable and will give long service. Before I spend some folding $$$ on new injectors, I would attempt to find a used set of injectors with low mileage. You can find these in the parts for sale section at a good price. Then send the injectors for inspect, testing and cleaning. This will cost you anywhere from $20 to about $100 and your car will run great with the original equipment injectors. Rich Jensen does the inspect and cleaning process and is very reasonable and good. His email is rich@cruzinperformance.com. I would contact him and ask for his advice. My car is an 89 model and has 1988 injectors serviced by Rich and installed by me. These have been running for the last three years with no problems. The injector part numbers you are looking for are: 1986 = 5235211, 1987 and 1988 = 5235302. These are the part numbers that are on the injectors themselves. They are not the part numbers that would be listed in a GM parts catalog. Hope this is another option for you that will make you happy and have some $$$ left in your pocket.

I just put these Bosch injectors in this week, and I am very happy. Car starts equally as well whether hot or cold.

Thanks Sam.
That is the information I was looking for. So if understand correctly the injectors for the 1986 to 1988 models should all be interchangeable. I will post on the parts wanted for used set of Bosch or Lucas injectors.
Thanks again everyone for your help.

Rich: An additional comment for you. The Corvettes in years 89 thru 91 also came with the 22 lb/hr injectors. These are called GM Multec injectors and have a very bad service record. Here is a photo of these injectors just in case someone is wanting to sell a set of 22 lb/hr Multecs to you:
The Lucas injector is black with a green ring around it and these are good injectors. Avoid buying GM Multec injectors as they will fail and Rich Jensen will not service them for you

Default 88 vette 35 anniversary

I am needing to change my fuel injectors. my question is I am also looking to get some more performance out of my vette as well, Would it matter if I put in high performance injectors? some that I see have 24lbs,26lbs 36lbs. does it matter performance wise what pounds I put in? I don't want to have to come back later down the road and put upgraded injectors in. Could anyone suggest what brand and injector to use? thank you very much

the ones I have looked at are from rock auto ACDELCO2173454, advance auto have AUS Injection part number Part # A56010-350-8-E

they also have a bunch of ACCEL but from looking at comments they don't seem to be good thanks again

summit racing also has fuel injectors but them I am not sure of

You need to talk to FIC and he will set you up with a set of reman STOCK SIZED injectors. Larger ones will require tuning and you won't be able to benefit from them if you are stock. 36 pph will make your car run pig rich and wash out the cylinders. Injectors are a cheap way people think will get them the power they want. That is why that idea won't work.

HMMM was told they were 24 LB on my 89. Don't think that would matter much.

Stock are 22lb injectors at 43.5PSI. If anyone tell you differently, they are wrong and don't listen to anything else they tell you.

Now, the reality is flow is based on pressure, so the devil is in the details. You have to look at what pressure they are rating them at. The stock injectors may be 24lbs at 50PSI

More things to consider, duty cycle also matters. It is not a perfectly linear scale across the board of flow/pressure/poundage from one to another. A generally close to stock set up won't be sensitive to this and the INT/BLMs will usually compensate.

Bottom line is, if you switch from 22 to 24# injectors at the same fuel pressure, the ECM will need the constant changed for it to properly calculate the fuel. It only has some many steps in the BLMs to go down to pull fuel before you are left running rich and your non closed loop tables will always be way rich.
