Default SYS light still flashing

SYS started flashing after new stereo install.
I did the TSB in the FAQ section to turn off the SYS light on my 93. I installed the resistors, but SYS still flashes. does the code have to be cleared for it to go out??

After I installed an aftermarket radio in my son's 96 LT1 his started getting an intermittent SYS light. Guess it has something to do with the computer not receiving the correct radio signal.

We just ignore it since there seems to be no down-side to it flashing.

One down-side would be if another more serious problem happened that would activate the SYS indication and you would not be aware of it.

I did and there was voltage at the two wires indicated
I did remove the radio reciever completely, maybe that is causing a problem.

If "SYS" is displayed in the LCD section of the instrument panel cluster after the customer installs a new stereo, he will need to do the following:

1. Buy (2) 1 kilo-ohm 1/2 Watt resistors. [Radio Shack part # 271-023. They sell them as a 2-pack for 29 cents.]
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the receiver.
4. Connect one end of both resistors to ignition power. (Yellow wire in the car.)
5. Connect the other end of one resistor to the purple/white wire in the car.
6. Connect the other end of the second resistor to the grey/black wire in the car.
7. Cover all connections and completely cover the resistors.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

I just did this on my car and it cleared the sys immediately. I would say you have a different problem if you followed these steps to the letter.

You can pull the codes from the ccm and let us know if the sys light is even related to the lcd dimmer circuit. You can jumper something on the diagnostic link connector to get the ccm to display the codes, I'm not sure on your year which 2 to jumper however.

I think you're right. The radio receiver needs to be installed back.

After installing Pioneer radio had SYS. I followed what gator79 said & it was simple. Fixed.

Thanks
Mike
