ZF Six-Speed Rebuild???
I have my engine out and waiting to have my 383 installed. Does anyone know the price and procedures that transmission shops use to rebuild the ZF-6??? My vette had 40K miles when I pulled the engine, but the transmission is easy to remove and may be due for a rebuild or just checking for wear ??? :chevy

contact Bill Boudreau. http://www.zfdoc.com. rebuilds vary according to damage from around 2500 to 5K for all out. the zf box is pretty durable. bill does em right.

Option #2
Call 847-478-6868 that's ZF in Chicago, Someone in Re-man should be able to recommend a reputable source.

Kurt White has a very good reputation with Zfs. Can't find his # though. I had mine rebuilt by a local shop. Next time Kurt will get the job.

Mine just arrived at Bill's shop. I am curious to see what all is wrong with it. I have not a complaint about either Bill nor Kurt. I will let everyone know how it goes.

Re: ZF Six-Speed Rebuild??? (BlackRocket)
BlackRocket, are you saying "it ain't broke", so you want to fix it??? In the case of the ZF, if you haven't screwed it up speed shifted it drag racing, just routinely change the fluid once a year and get on with life. These are some of the best manual gearboxes ever made for a modern American (or european)car. Certainly light years better in quality and longevity than the C5 units.
