Default LS1 with ZF6... Will it work?

Can you swap an LS1 and still use the ZF 6-speed?

It would require a custom bellhousing or some type of adapter plate.

So if I'm going with an LSx will the T56 install without major modifications (even though I hear the ZF is a better tranny anyways...)

I'm not sure if the shifter will line up, or the crossmember. Also have to deal with c-beam and driveshaft. I guess it depends on your definition of major modifications, but it's not a bolt in one afternoon swap.

People on here have installed a T56 with an L98. www.prostreetcustoms.net makes a plate for the back of a T56 to be able to attach the C-Beam to it. You'll need to shorten the C-Beam a little and the driveshaft too. Also, the T56 shifter is located dead-center as opposed to the C4's shifter which is off to the left. You'll need a custom console cover because the shifter will come up partially in the cupholder.

You might want to look into a Keisler (http://keislerauto.com/gm/index.html) sourced Tremec TKO transmission.

I'd look into the ZF6 option a little further.

This may help:
