Default wheel spacers

Eiback has 15mm wheel spacers listed for Camaros. Has anyone put these on their C4? I think they will fit but want to know if anyone already tried and saw a reason they didn't fit or found a good alternative in spacers that get between 1/2 and 3/4 inch?

I don't want adapters when racing, just spacers and studs.

thanks-
Barbara

Well you can get Baer Spacers from most of the performance stores.
Here is a link. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...=modeBmatchall

I think most members here will recommend the adapter over spacers and longer studs.

Check with the sanctioning body where you will be racing before you go with spacers. Some won't allow them. Adapters may be accepted but not spacers.

Adapters are actually stronger than spacers. Spacers put all the torque on the longer studs. These will fail before the standard studs on the wheels and adapters.

Thats interesting - I would have liked to try them, but my husband thought it wasn't the right design for autocrossing. Peace in the house trumps it.

I ended up with buying some BMW spacers - not ideal, but they may fit. And if not, I might try the adapters afterall.

thanks!

I am using 1" adapters to run ZO6 wheels on my 1985. I have used these at the drag races (1/4) mile without any problems. I believe that CentralCoaster has made 40-60 runs with similar adapters and no problems. Autocross may be a different animal.

I would still believe that the adapters would be stronger than spacers in autocross. In the case of adapters, the original studs are used to bolt on the adapter just like you would a wheel. Then the adapter has its own studs to bolt on the wheel. They use aircraft quality aluminum for the adapters and the chance of pulling a stud thru this are extreamly small.

I would check your spacers and the studs often for any sign of fatigue.

Porsche for many years put spacers on their production cars. 911 turbos to 944's.

I would guess they were hubcentric wheels and hubcentric spacers, not the aftermarket stuff that isn't (like I bought but may just toss).

I've just read more, mainly at corner-carners on spacers and adapters -and I'm stil not certain what's best for an auctocross car, and what I can get for my car to be ready in 1 week. I'm rethinking my choice.

thanks

i do have 1-1/4" adapters to fit 99 wheels on my 87 and they are perfect in any ways and no vibration to worry about... i did some 1/4 mile run last summer with them on without any problem but for what you want to do i im not sure if they will be safe ?????

Default wheel spacers

Doug Rippie has billet spacers in a variety of thickness. Hope that helps.

Are you using these on the z or your other vette? Why do you want spacers except for the fact of widening your track?

At this point I have 11 inch wheels all around, and 335's for the back will arrive Monday. 315's go on the front. The A-mold wheels fit if you don't really drive the car hard but this is my ZR1 for autocrossing.

DRM had long racing studs and I was hoping they would be stronger than standard studs.
In hindsight I think the DRM spacers look just as good as Eiaback - amd if in stock I may get those too.

thanks.

Are your A molds +36.5 or the later +50. If they are +50, I can see why you want the spacers.

The A-molds are all +50. Here's more bad news. I bought spacers, that are hub centric, and I bought adapters that are hubcentric as the backup plan. The hub in the spacers in both cases are too big for the center of the A-molds.

They'd be fine if I had a set of ZR1 wheels but not these aftermarket wheels. I'm thinking of machining off the hub part but I'd rather return them and find something that fits the A-molds too.
This just sucks. Race day is Saturday, new Hoosier 335's and 315's are mounted, and I've fixed just close to everything that was wrong with the car when I bought it.

Sorry to rant.

And Randy at DRM has been awesome to deal with too. He's trying to help get something that works to me also.
