It's easier if you use a Dremel and a cut off wheel. Just cuto them back until they are even with the edge of the center electrode. Cut them back a little at a time so you don't mess up and overdo it.

There's a photo of one that's already been cut in a forum members homepage, look at this post about mid page for the homepage link: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=176399
This should help you on visualizing how far back to cut.

I normally cut them so that when looking at the plug from the piston view the ground electrode (adjustable part) is cut so that you can see half (half moon) of the center electrode (base). I've done this several times with a dremel tool on various vehicles and it does seem to work well, gives the car a bit more pep. Some people may cut more or less of this area, the idea is to get more spark "visable" to the gasses in the chamber. Good luck!

Use a fine file to dress the cut end and remove any burs to avoid ping.

Or..... get your father's machien shop to professionally cut them back at the exact point and champer (smooth) the edges a bit..

Hmm Maybe i should have them do more.. I have some friends who already asked me to do this for their cars.. (grumble grumble)
