Default cheapest aftermarket piggy back computer ?

hello guys,
im in need to find a cheap /but reliable aftermarket piggy back computer to run my m.a.p properly on my 1991 L98 vette with the cross ram flow 8 throttle body intake im buying !
can you reccomend any product that will be cheap enough and easy to install please ?
or may be a aftermarket chip/tune may be able to re map the manifold air preasure to the needs required that this intake will need ?
thanks
shae

Don't know if you have thought of this. By running a line from each runner to a box and then a line to the MAP sensor it should work like a factory setup. I've seen other IR (individual runner) manifolds done this way.

hi there metal tech,
thanks for your reply
sounds interesting what you said but i would not have a clue if this would work or not ?
how big should the box be do you reackon ?
can you shed more info please ?
im also not sure wheather that it would be enough, i thought the reason why you have to have a differnt chip/comptuer was to help control or provide more map, i dont know ?
i dont have any idea about all of this thats why im hoping to hear alot more help and info!!!!
cheers any way.

apexi.com or look on ebay and pick up the SAFC II it will allow you to tune a whole host of of parameters. also get a wideband o2 sensor that will help you out quite a bit. Or F.A.S.T XFI standalone fuel management

The "box" is just a place for all 8 lines to come together. I don't think size is a big issue. The lines must seal, any leaks and your vacuum signal weakened. You can check the Kinsler site they may have few pics of IR manifolds done this way and maybe BDS (blower drive service). I happen to have a Kinsler crossram BBC manifold that was originally done this way.

hi there metal tech,
what diameter size lines would i need to run please ?
would i just use vacuum hose would i ?
and how would the vacuum lines fit into and roughly where on each runner would you place them please ?
so by doing this , would that possibly mean i wouldnt have to mess with buying a after amrket computer which is just a pain the a*ss and expense ?
would i continue to use my same old m.a.p sensor and just plug it in and then into the box then out to all 8 runners ?
thanks, you have been a great help!
cheers

I just found 2 web site you can see what I'm talking about. The line size is small 1/8, 3/16, maybe 1/4 max. www.sdefi.com/dman.htm scroll down until you see Fig #6 on right side, it'll give you an idea on the box size. www.force-efi.com/stacks.htm shows some IR manifold conversions. I checked Kinsler and the pics are too small to see any detail.

hi again metal tech,
thanks for the links!
ok i found out from the supplier that the cross ram intake has seperate channels under neath the intake for the m.a.p and then at the back of manifold it has a npt fitting tap ready for the m.a.p pipe to plug into!
so it may still work and be ok,if not we will have to try what you kindly mentioned /helped me with!
cheers mate

Not cheap, but it's a plug-in and it will let you run that expensive intake the way it was designed.

BTW they're down where you are!
