Default moving rack and pinion forward?

has anyone successfully done it? If i remember people have had to do it for BBC motors bottom pulley clearance? I've tried the search but no luck. any help or ideas for cleanace would be apprieciated.

P.S. Im not doing a BBC swap.

that's the only way I see that rack moving forward.

and even then, I don't remember it being required for the BB conversion... they have to hack the crossmember, sure, but I don't remember the rack moving.

Do I smell a blower pulley?

Cut that thing out, fabbing the metal pieces isnt hard. Even if yo had to pay someone to come over and weld them up for you its worth it.

Im going to buy you a phone one day.


Edit: Derr, didnt get past crossmember...Moving the rack, dont know whats involved.

Your steering will have bump steer and reverse ackerman if you move the rack.

good point. It won't matter much on a strip, but on a road course it would be a bitch.

Good point. Bump steer sux but reverse Ackerman is sometimes useful and, at times, a really fast way to get around a track. (Old sports car racer here) . It just doesn't like 30 MPH corners too well.
