Default why should I buy Msd dist and not Accel?

...just because the MSD one is red?
I'm considering a small cap distributor,a billet distributor
I seems that all are for the MSD-8366
Why not the Accel one? (part ACC-60109 ).
Is there some particular reason that this Accel dist can't be used on our corvette?
There are 2 or three consideration I made:
1) It's $60 less
2) it uses a .491 dist gear (I like to continue to use the GM performance .491 melonized gear distributor with the pressed on stock cam gear on my Comp cams billet core cam).
3) The jimsperformance adapter for the MSD, is the same for the Accel one?

P.S. if the billet choice is not a must, even the Proform PRO-66939BK / PRO-66938R can be good?

First question: What's your motive for swapping distributors? Is it to clear a different intake? Looks? Or what?

I have a Superram, and there's no room ...or better i always need to rotate the dist some toth to clear the wires.
...probably I'll swap intake also..that require the small cap.
,...Nothing wrong with my actual stock 17 years old distributor..

Stock is good. Unless you have a need to spend, the small GM, external coil distributor ought to work great. I can see that availability may be a factor due to your location. Among the various ignition manufacturers, I favor Mallory. They have been around since before either Accel or MSD.

The accel won't fit with the plenem dizzy cover screwed on. I have the one that 'wont fit' a vette. It does minorly rub the rubber on the cowl.

How high are you spinning the motor, and how much advance are you planning on running?
