High pitched squeal after 700r4 performance rebuild
Can the serpentine belt and/or tensioner pullie produce high pitched squeal under load heard when tranny shift up or down under load?
I have a 1990 Corvette L98 with A4 tranny. About 4 months ago I lost the 3-4 clutch pack. This tranny was rebuilt last week. Since the rebuild I've been getting accustomed to the new/more aggressive characteristic of the A4.
The shifting is flawless, I have noticed however, when I drive spirited that there's a high pitched squeal sounds kind of like a built and is only present when the tranny shift up or down under hard driving.
Could the serpentine belt and/or tensioner pullie produce such sound affect under load?

I can roast the tires...and it shifts like a Monster!
Foot must be firmly on brake when shift into a forward gear due to the added fluid pressures resulting from the rebuild.
The noise is from the engine bay.

This may be a long stretch, but I had a high pitch whining coming from my trans once when the cable was out of adjustment. It didnt happen all the time either. It sounded like a loud WOOOOOOOOOO noise coming from the engine area.
After a few trials of adjustment to the tv cable the noise stopped.
That being said, check your belt,tensioner,p/s pump and pulley etc.

You can disconnect your serpentine belt temporarily. Friend of mine did it at the track. He would do a pass to get a good time, shut it down, install belt and idle to cool it. You only need to do it once to check if it is the serpentine belt.
