Default 285's will fit in the front without rubbing right?

I just purchased some Z06 rims from Bob at House of wheels and planned on putting my current rear tires(285/40/17) on the new front rims.

I was calling on prices for new rear tires(wider ) and blah blah blah the tire guy wanted to sell me 4 tires because he insited the 285's will not work on the front.

So he is wrong... right?

Folks on this forum are running 315's on the front, so it shouldn't be a problem to slide 285's in there. Maybe someone who has actually done it can chime in. I'm just reporting what others have said.

What size rims are you guys all running I have 17X10s so I think they should be perfect for 285/40/17. I was thinking 295/35/17 but I have not seen many companies that make them, what size rims would you need for those?

285/40s on 9.5 and 315/35s on 11". Your 10" should be fine for the 285/40s, but I would not go any smaller tire on them.

The tires are Hoosiers I use on the track. They're on facory sawblades, 17x9.5?

Thanks for all your input guys! I was pretty sure but wanted to check and be certain. I will post pics once I got the wheels and tires on!
