Default PKE System is Haunted!

It's happened before, but never like this......

Tonight on the FDR Drive, my door locks started cycling open and closed, then the PKE light in the DIC flickered, then stayed on and then my rear hatch opened and the relay started cycling on and off in seqence just like a turn signal

I pulled over and first pulled the PKE fuse......PKE light in DIC still on and hatch solenoid still cycling.....so I pulled the hatch fuse which stopped hatch solenoid from cycling.

Drove home with PKE light on in DIC.

Plugged back in the hatch fuse when I got home and it started cycling again so I pulled it again.

Tried to operate the passenger door lock and it started vibrating uncontrolably.

Disconnected battery cable and reconnected to reboot the CCM.

Everything back to normal, but I'm leaving the PKE fuse out since I don't use the PKE as I have a Viper alarm installed that works fine.

Bet the damned PKE Receiver is starting to go.

This has happened about 5 seperate times over the past 2 years....

Rebooting the CCM by pulling the battery cable then pulling the PKE fuse prior to reconnecting the battery cable did the trick

Pretty sure your diagnosis is incorrect, but you have found a solution that you are happy with, so - what's the point of the thread?

Well, let's see, I get one response that says my diagnosis is wrong.....

Obviously that's not why I posted this

Any takers on what they think went wrong?

BTW, with the PKE fuse pulled its been fine.......

The FSM has a procedure for checking the PKE system for trouble codes. You didn't mention if you tried this. If you don't have the FSM I can fwd the instructions. Don't know what could be wrong with yours, but I would certaintly look at the door ajar switches & the hatch switch?

Have you changed the battery in the fob?

You're right.....my service manual shows a special way to get codes from the PKE system....didn't do that yet, I'll check over the weekend.

I haven't used the key FOB in years as I have a Viper with it's own key FOB

The original key FOBs are put away in a drawer in my house

If I cant get fobs to program to my PKE and my doors lock and unlock sometimes when they are open does that mean I have to get a new PKE? Im confused on what to do because I hate using a key
