Default top post battery connection terminal upgrade/conversion possible ???

hi there guys,
got a 1991 vette and
just wandering who has succesfully converted a side mount post terminal battery to a normal top post mount battery ?
would there be enough clearance at all?
my battery is located on the passenger side of the car though!!
what is needed?
what parts?
is this a better idea than the orignal hard to get too battery design?
any ideas/pictures please guys.
thanks
shae

Any same size battery that will fit (I have Exide E550HE )
Just need to change the two battery cables to regular type
(Supercheap / Repco )
Commonly done over here due to availability of side posts.

So long as you can get a good connection.
The proper ones are not that expensive; most auto shops have them in various lengths.

hi rod,ok then
i was hoping that if i could just cut the old battery end connections off then attach new style then i wouldnt have to get under car and replace all the earth and starter motor lead you see.
how many cold cranking amps does your exide battery put out ?
cheers

Just make sure you have adequate clearance bwtween the postitive top post and clamp and the diagonal front cowl support bar.

Why in the world would you want to go backwards and install a top post battery? The reason why side post batteries came to be is to get the posts away from the cell vents on the top of the battery and greatly reduce the corrosion of the battery posts.

Cause in the back blocks of the world they are next to impossible to find and ultra expensive when you can.
Owning a Vette in the colonies is a expensive past time taking into account exchange rates , markup and shipping charges.
US$20 -25K for a pre 1990 C4
US$600+ for a Comp cam you pay $250 for.
US$650 for a BBK TB.

Put the neg at rear ( under the hood latch housing ) and you have a min 3" clearance to brace.
