Default Heater Problems

My 1991 Corvette ,the other day I drove about 4 miles and steam was coming out all the inside vents, I had the heater on it has automatic climate control it was so badly steamed I could not see out of the windows. It smelled like antifreeze. After I turned off the car steam was still coming out of the vents. What causes this. I guess I better have it towed to mechanic. Did this ever happen to any one else?

I'm in the same boat, started taking apart the dash today. So far its not all that bad, i've got it down to the heater cover which is the real pain. Finding and getting a socket onto those bolts is the hard part. What I dont understand is why they didnt design it so that you could remove it from the engine side since it is right there.
