Default 700r4 cooling line adapter

anyone know what type of Russel ( or other) adapter fittings I would need to use to replace my cooling lines? I am looking to fab up cooling lines using an-6 braided SS hose ( maybe an external cooler too).

I have a 79, with an 1989 l98, TPI, and 700r4 in it. And yes I like it very much. When I did the engine swap I put some temporary lines in that I need to make a little more formal. thanks for the input!

Are the fittings on the tubing at the transmission the same as those
at the radiator? If so, then the following items along with suitable
hose might do the job.
  • 4 pc - FBM2111: Aeroquip Adapters - Fitting, Straight,
-6 AN Male to 1/ 2-20 in. Inverted Flare, Aluminum, Blue
    .
  • 4 pc - FBM1512: Socketless Hose Ends - Fitting, Straight,
-6 AN Socketless Hose Barb to Female -6 AN, Aluminum, Red/ Blue,
Look the numbers up at your favorite vendor to determine whether
they are suitable for your purposes.

Or at the trans end you can remove the brass hardline fittings and
screw 1/2NPT -AN 6 adapters direct into the trans case

Thanks I will look these up on Summits web site. And for the record both ends are not the same.

I have read some horror stories on other sites that well meaning individuals have actually cracked their transmission case doing this. So if there is room I think I will leave them there. Thanks!

I put the -6 AN fitting directly into the case with no problems. I believe it was a pipe thread. ou can remove the brass fitting and have it matched. It was a common fitting and is working well with no problems. I love my 700R4.

Best money I have spent on the vette. It drives so much better than the th350.

I have seen it may times. Use no sealer on the pipe thread that screws into the trans case.

Can you clairify?

- Cases cracked by mis-installation of fittings?

or

- -6AN to NPT pipe fittings installed in the ports of the 700R4 case?

I have seen factory fitting, and aftermarket fittings crack the case when tape or sealant is used.
Even if I have been sniffing glue, and am dead wrong, it is worth trying.
I assume it was a hydraulic situation that did it.
