Default GM heads part #'s

I bought a 383 crate engine and the whole engine had to be dissassembled due to the fact that the people who put the engine together knew JACK poopie. Anyways, I put my alum. L98 heads on it after they were ported out. So, I have a set of heads here and they have a GM production number stamped into them. Problem is that I don't know what heads these are. They are said to be stage 2 ported, 3 angle valve job heads with this number stamped into them

14102188

Any ideas as to what heads these are? I think my mechanic said they looked like vortec heads.

I'm not sure about stamping numbers - I thought those were production serial numbers put on at the foundry.

GM used to cast the item number into the head - as shown here between the rockers for 5 & 7 cyl (10088113). 113 is the L-98 head casting #.

Jims' Performance has a Head Chart at -
http://www.jimsperformance.com/headchart.html

...But I don't see your head # there...There's a 14102187, but it's from/for a small-valve 305...

...If that's it, you got ripped... :(

OOPs, I just rechecked them and the last 3 digits are 183, not 188.

I did go to the gm website and ran the numbers, even the 183 and came up with nothing. I checked it under Chevy, Pontiac and even Buick!

The stamps on the head are..

GM 5
14102183
GOO6 (?)

Casting # on my original '89 heads is 10088113. I believe the current production I installed had the same number, but it's a different design (the intake manifold bolts are counterbored for a gasket retainer and the rocker studs no longer include the factory guideplates). I recall someone posting info about casting #'s. You might want to try a search under Heads.

I put 14102183 into google and got your heads identified as '87-89 5.0 and 5.7L chevrolet/pontiac. See here:
http://www.generalautoparts.com/PDFs/Techtips1.pdf

This also came up:
http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/engin...ts/CHEV-89.rtf

which says they are 53cc, 11.18 CR heads for a 305 TBI application. None of this is as important as flow numbers, which aren't listed. (IMHO)

Thank you very much for the info. I had a hard time finding any info on them. So, it looks like they're high compression pieces of crap. Thanks for your help Hendej.
