Default 1990 ZR1 wheels

Hey, got a question..

If I remember correctly the 1990 ZR1 did not have five spoke wheels, the wheels on the ZR1 looked just like the stock rims, just bigger.

Is my recollection correct? Are these wheels hard to come by?

Thanks

Yeah - the had the regular 88 - 90 style wheels. Rears were 11" tho' probably pretty hard to come by...

This is a GM one-off-the-line, now at GM Heritage collection.

Actually, 90 wheels are unique to 90s.

Those are the ones I'm looknig for.

I'd like to go that route rather than afetmarket wheels.

Cool. thanks.

I am pretty sure Agent 86 has those wheels on his car. Look in his Corvette photos.

Any ideas where I can get a set of REAR ONLY 1990 ZR1 stock silver looking wheels?

The 1990 ZR1 they show is one of those rare convertibles.

John. You are aware the ZR1 rims have a different offset, and stick out quite a bit.

No, they're not unique, according to what I've ever read, and according to the link that mk82 posted. Except for the rears, which I said in my post, were 11".

1988 (z51,z52)
front & rear 17"x9.5" 56mm (7.4" backspacing)
Goodyear Eagle ZR, P275/40ZR-17 1989 (all)
front & rear 17"x9.5" 56mm (7.4" backspacing)
Goodyear Eagle ZR, P275/40ZR-17
(88 base DID have a second wheel style; I didn't refer to that one)

1989 (all)
front & rear 17"x9.5" 56mm (7.4" backspacing)
Goodyear Eagle ZR, P275/40ZR-17

1990 (base)
front & rear 17"x9.5" 56mm (7.4" backspacing)
Goodyear Eagle ZR, P275/40ZR-17

1990 (zr1)
front 17"x9.5" 56mm (7.4" backspacing)
Goodyear Gatorbacks, P275/40ZR-17
rear 17"x11" 36mm (7.93" backspacing)
Goodyear Gatorbacks, P315/35ZR-17

1990 MY wheels are absolutely unique. The '88-89 wheels had a full center cap that covered the lug nuts and locked into place. The '90 wheels have an open center. I also recall reading there was some process or design change that made the '90 wheels lighter than the '88-89s.

The '90 ZR-1 wheels are the 36mm offset though, and thus will stick out on an '88+ Corvette (except obviously ZR-1s).

88-89:

I believe that's actually the ZR-2. It was a convertible that GM stuffed a 454 in. I think the hood bulges more than stock, but dunno if that's just an illusion in the picture. There were some articles about it back in the day, I just can't recall the specifics.

1990 is the only cuisanart wheel with exposed lug nuts. The other years have covers/center caps.

I was going to go that same route 2 years ago. But after mounted a ZR-1 rim on the rear, it looked nothing like stock. It looks somewhat skid ish!

They stick out wayyyyyyy to far. I like my 18x10.5's with 315's. They fit perfect.

You don't happen to have a pic of that do you?

Your wheels do look good.
