700R4 will not go into PARK, kicks back into REVERSE
We have a 700R4 in our 62 that will not go into park. This occurred while driving last night. I noticed it for the first time when I went to put the car in PARK after the drive.
The problem remains even with the linkage from the shifter to the transmission shift arm disconnected.
When the shift arm on the transmission is cycled through the gears, you can feel the detent click for each gear, except for PARK. There is tension on the shift arm when pushed toward Park, but it will not engage, and bounces back to reverse.
What should I look for? Is there an adjustment I can make if I drop the trans pan? Will I need to separate the valve body to do it? Pics would be appreciated.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

Wes your best bet is going to be to PM forum member PETEK, he is the 700r4/4l60 transmission guru around these neck of the woods. Good luck on getting it fixed!

Thank you for the suggestion 1989vette. I'll send PeteK a PM. The trans is under warranty still, so I will be calling the shop when it opens.
Edit: I just did a search for PeteK and for some reason the threads I'm getting are all 2002 or older and do not open... don't know what I'm doing wrong.
