What is the vacuum check valve called??
My 85 vette has a vacuum check valve near the rear of the engine on the right hand side. It comes off the plenum and then T's off after the check valve part. It looks as though 1 side goes to the vacuum canister for the cruise control. The other disappears into a solid plastic line behind the distributor.
What is that check valve called? One of the small fittings broke and i need to replace it.
Does it need to be a check valve or can it be a regular T?
Thanks

Either a check valve as you have noted or a vacuum diode. Most are set to a certain vacuum pressure setting so having the right one can be important. I'm sure there are other names but those are the ones I am familiar with.

you need to replace with check valve only, otherwise you will loose vacumm during deceleration. For example, your cruise control will randomly cease working. I am not sure where the other feed goes, but it may go to your vacumm reserve can. Usually you can find these check valves in the "Help" section of stores like pep boys or Autozone. Check valves in Vettes are pretty standard items, and are usually easy to find.
But don't replace a check valve with a T fitting.

Use a T and your cruise won't work. Simply called a vacuum check valve, but for cruise control. It's a 2-way. Your AC unit shares this valve with your cruise. The line going into the firewall goes to your AC unit.
Available at Kragen and Autozone.
Part# 47150
I found it on the misc. part isle with "HELP" brand items on the store floor.
