are comp cams 918 beehive springs too much for stock cam & 1:6 rockers?
Hi I want to replace my valve springs and put on the 1:6 proform rockers[yes self aligning] I have on my 93 lt1 corvette. I found some used comp.918 beehive springs and retainers. They have 130 lbs spring pressure. Is this too much pressure for stock cam or heads? Some cars have pressed in rocker studs. would a 93 corvette have screwed in studs? I know 1:6 rockers with heavy springs and pressed in studs are not good. I also worry the 130lb seat pressure might cause too much friction between cam and lifter. On the other hand it gives me a stronger spring if I do change cams farther down the road. Thanks Tim

I have been running those on my LT-1 for 5 years with no problems.
You should have screw in studs .I run 1.6 on the intake and 1.5 on the exaust with the beehive springs.

Your LT1 has screw-in studs.
As AFR pointed out to me, springs will reduce in seat pressure after a few cycles. They won't stay 130lbs for long. (Stock is 120lbs.) You should end up pretty close to that after break in. Also, having a bit more control with a larger rocker can't hurt. You really aren't talking about much change over stock.
The MILD lobes of the stock cam reduces any potential problem of wear on cam/seats even further. I wouldn't worry about it. AFR recommended 150lb springs with an XFI cam -- and said valve control was WAY more important than any potential wear issue that a 150lb spring might induce.
Not so sure about your choice of proform alum rockers though. You might consider a stronger rocker.

So what exactly is wrong with proform rockers? I have them left over from my other lt1 car so they are free and I'm going to try them. On the springs - I'm going to be checking spring pressure[I bought a gauge to test springs in a vice] and adjusting it with shims. Thanks Tim
