Exhaust finally together
I've been trying to put together a hybrid exhaust composed of B&B (LT1 exhaust), Borla (L98 Stinger exhaust), a pair of Pypes reducers and some custom bent T409 stainless tubing. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
What do you think?

I really liked the look of the Stinger tips too which is why I used them in my new set-up, and I know when my exhaust consisted of Hooker full lenght headers into a 3" Y-pipe through a hollow converter and outback through the original full Stinger system it was loud. I'm hoping that going through the B&B resonator will tone it down some, but it'll be awhile before I can verify this.
I've actually been waiting to get the exhaust done so it was all in one piece and verifeid to fit. Now that it is complete I pulled the system as one piece that was pictured in the first post and reasssembly shpuld be simplified now. Now I finish the rest of my upper end tear down, rebuild and Trans R & R.

After I'd already ordered and bent the pipes after the resonator I found out the T409 stainless steel tubing that I used will develop surface rust unlike T304.
Being that this is the pipes after the resonator and therefore hopefully won't get overly hot, if I prep the pipe and paint it with engine clear coat will this work to help keep the rust down?

Were you able to buy the borla mufflers separate? Also, Do you think the resonator helped quiet it down? I took the cats off of mine and the muffler shop recommended me to run true duals with just a small 10" resonator at the tips and it is not the sound I am looking for. I was looking more for the aggressive tone vs the 70's style truck sound you hear on 4x4 with no exhaust.

Great Job!
What part of the exhaust were LT1 parts?
Could you tell me if the LT1 muffler hanger locations are the same as your 91 L98 hanger locations?
BTW, love the spider web storage idea.

The LT1 center is exhasut hanger is in the same location as the L98 (bolted to the tailshaft of the transmission), but it is a completely different style hanger. I have an exta one of these brand new F/S in the parts section if anyone needs it or wants to update their exhaust to LT1 exhaust.
The two hangers further back are in a comletely diff location from the L98. The LT1 brackets connect to the diff housing at the camber brackets and the L98 hanger is attached to the C-beam.
Thanks. I had to find somewhere to put it out of the way while I worked on the new engine and I didn't want to block up the other side of the garage (need it for side jobs).
As long as the pipes have a good fit (minimal to no gap when sleeved together) you can't beat band clamps, they look cleaner, seal well and the best part is they don't crimp the pipe. This means if you need to disassemble your exhaust simply loosen the clamp and take it apart. That's how I was easily able to disassemble the Borla exhaust and the B&B exhaust with no damage and use what components I wanted to.

Thanks ultraviolet70. I had been looking into getting a complete LT1 exhaust for my 91 vette but I wondered about the hanger placements. Too bad it seems to be hard to find a good L98 dual exhaust. Your hybrid exhaust does inspire me to follow your idea. Again, great job!!!
BTW turbopezz, band clamps are the way to go. I will never go back to U-bolt clamps. Only place I can find them though are Napa or Summit.

i can't wait to get the new engine done and see how the exhaust sounds. No more just upper end rebuild, found out the short block was toast and now I'm building a 383. Short block should be delivered tomorrow.
