Default For a 1986 Vette - 14102187 casting 305 head modification,outperform a 350 head ???

Hi i have a friend of mine that bought 14102187 heads supposedly from a Vortec,i found out that this heads are 305 as far as i have reserarched.-
This are intented for a 350 engine and i was told they will kill performance
but they are porting them and installing 1.94 valves,64cc,and 185 runner.-
Will this head job outperform a 350 head ?
I think my friend is wasting money doing this head job and he better buy a decent set .-

What you think ? Pro's and Con's ???
thanks !
Sammy

I can answer this. with TPI the TBI swirl port heads will give tpi a lot more torqier feeling. aside from that they are garbage or good boat anchors. a better 58cc head is the 5.0 h.o 416 head

Unless its a financial necessity I wouldnt ever replace stock heads with stock heads. Too much good aftermaket stuff out there.

i would not bother using those heads.. for the money he would dump into it he could get something better. i wouldn't use a cast iron head and if i did it would be a vortec.

I agree, I wouldn't run a stock iron head either.

Vortec's also necessitate an intake change, at that point I really think I would rather run aftermarket aluminum head.

You can get Dart Iron Eagle Elimators's for what, 570$ or so?

However aluminum heads are only a short bit away from that...

I would think with some porting a cast L-98 "083" head would be nice to.
