Placed an order to Summit last night for the few things I need to start assembly, hopefully order will show up next Tue-Wed. For now I guess it just makes a pretty garage piece.

Mild 383. Here's a brief desc. off the top of my head.
4 bolt ARP studded mains. One piece rear main with all provisions for OEM roller cam. Fully internally balanced Eagle rotating assembly with 5140 forged I-beam rods and TRW Speedpro Hyper pistons. Obviously all new Clevite 77 bearings, new freeze plugs, all oil galleys tapped and replaced press in with screw in plugs (they also relieved the front center galley for me before assembly to clear the double roller timing chain).
As I start assembly, I'll update thread with pics and the rest of the components.

Had a place called The Engine Store do the shortblock. I've been speaking with the owner (Kent) alot off and on for the past month and he was great to deal with. The price he quoted me seemed too good to be true and I thought it was till the engine was dropped off on my door step yesterday.

Considering the I know the freight and Paypal fees were over $200 I can't figure out how he sold it to me so cheap.

Damn that is a good price! I just got my block back today from the local machine shop and it was ~$300 alone for just the over bore, tanking and cam bearing install....and mine is still a 2 bolt main block

I'll know in couple months hopefully how it runs and if it really was a deal. I really got to give it a good look over today and it looks to be everything I was told. Only thing I wasn't expecting is that it is .040 over and I thought it was going to be .030 over, not a big deal guess I got a couple more cubes that way.

Good luck with the build...I gotta find me a new crankshaft here locally so I can start to get the bottom end on mine together tomorrow.

Can someone give me some input on card included. I know it came with the rotating assembly and I realize it's concerns the matched weights of the various components and serial numbers.
But I'd like a little more detailed input.

Wow...that is a fantastic deal.....I considered just buying a GM ZZ383 base, but that almost $1500 more!

I looked at the ZZ383 and for the almost $1800 more that I found it for (this included shipping, I don't think your $1500 difference does) the only real benefit I found was the forged crank as opposed to the cast in my build. Since I don't expect to be turning over 6000rpm or exceeding 500hp the cast was fine. And I know this is going against the grain but I wanted full internal balance which my build is and the ZZ383 is still rear external balance.
