I an no expert on ECM's but i do have an Electronics Degree.
There are many components in the ECM that could fail. So it only comes to reason that there could be many different symptoms multiplied by the types of causes. Some different causes could be vibration, circuit boards cracking, traces separating, cracked solder joints, heat, integrated circuit failures, humidity, capacitors drying out causing values to change or fail.

I have a 1988 Vette, it has been in the shop more this past year than driven. I had the ECM changed on it a couple weeks ago, it ran great until I parked it last night. I try starting it, it’s like it gets no spark to start. But if I step on the gas, it will start, but die, when I let up on the gas. Can someone help me out? I spent more money on this issue than the car is worth. Please email me at waynejoy125@gmail.com thanks
