The Tech Tips section once available has not been accessible for updates for quite some time because the software used to create the material is no longer supported and is not compatible with the vBulletin software that runs the Forum.

It’s on a long list of “to-do” items to try and resurrect the section, but has not made it to the top of the priority list as yet. Meanwhile, Forum member C4Cruiser located the following links that allow viewing of the old tech tips and recommended that we share the links with others who might be interested in accessing them.

If you want to post newer tech tips, please post a link to them in this thread. If you know of other tech tips already posted, post a link here to them as well. That should make the task of getting the Tech Tips on track much easier when we get the necessary window of opportunity to make it happen.

Thanks.

I have two Tech Tips addressing procedures that come up perhaps more than any other - How to Adjust Lifter Preload and How to Reseal the Intake Manifold to Prefent Future Leaks. However, they're in *.doc format and I don't know how to post a link to them.

Any advice on "How To" will be greatly appreciated. Step by Step would be great.

Thanks,

Jake

ha ha Good one - hadn't thought of that!!! wow I could have saved all the work I did, swapping shockies, valve covers etc - I just needed to spray them with armorall!!!

wish it was that easy!

BTW I don't use the armorall tyre spray on my tyres, just the engine bay- still doing the clean engine trick now for 6+ years and no detectable residue.

Not sure what this means?? as someone that does not know what is going on..one picture dirty engine, next one is clean..chrome valve covers, red shocks, cap changed..so maybe next time you need to inform some one about the by the way stuff...well i installed a new motor and sprayed it with armorall mate..and spraying armor all onto an engine does produce a residue..it is made for tires made from oil and dashes made from plastics.. not for metals...............................tyr es shockies..Im lost...:craz y:

How to change tail light bulbs on 89 and earlier.

This is the best way I have found at changing the tail light bulbs on the older C4's with the round tail lights, 89 and earlier. Follow the order I have it written and you shouldn't have any problems as long as you can reach your arm in through the license plate opening.

What you do is reach in through the license plate opening after you have pulled the license plate. Remove the bulb socket on the inner tail lights.

Remove the two screws holding the inner tail lights lense. Remove the inner tail lights lense. Reach in through the inner tail light lense hole and change the outer tail light bulbs.

Go ahead and put in the new bulbs for the inner tail light sockets. Put the inner tail light lense back in with the two screws with arm reaching in through the license plate opening. Then screw in the inner tail light bulb socket. And replace license plate.

I recommend you put in long life bulbs. I also recommend if you don't already have one. Go to Autozone and get a 10mm ratchet wrench. The one I have lets you fold the ratcheting end up to 90 degrees. Makes this job alot easier vs. using a socket wrench. Though, you could get by with a 10mm socket wrench.
