the t-56 has been done, but the more common swap is the zf 6-speed that originally came in these cars.

In fact, these days a ZF can be found for LESS than a t-56! And it's a tougher transmission. If you have any detailed questions or concerns, get a hold of Bill at www.zfdoc.com

You can get all the parts needed to go the full swap right from c4's instead of retro-fitting anything else needed for the t-56.

I too would like to hear info about a T56 swap into a C4.

The T56 weighs 30 lbs less than a ZF transmission. It probably also has better synchros.

As for durability, keep in mind its the transmission used behind Dodge Viper V10's.

believe me, the internals of the t-56 is not nearly has robust as the ZF... if you want solid proof, get a hold of Bill at www.zfdoc.com

it's incredible the differences! in fact, the most recent transmission to resemble the same Or similiar technology as the old ZF is the NEW c6z06 transmissions!

the ZF (when propertly blue-printed) is a monster of a transmission. Bill has build a handful of these things for international customers that are putting out well over 1000rwhp! One owner does the open-road challenge in Navada and runs in excess of 220mph for extended periods of time (15-20minutes).

there is even a customer that is placing a 572 big-block in front of a ZF transmission using a customer bell housing, and the transmissions is holding up fine.

BTW, t-56's are primarily used with an adapter that is fitted to the tail-end of the transmission to support the c-beam.

in fact, we've got a local vendor that sells TKO 500/600 (5-speed) swap kits for our c4's and even 6-speed kits for the earlier cars.

Yeah t-56 v ZF I think the choice would come down to what can be installed easier/cheaper.

The rear..there are a couple options, a forum member has a bolt in kit and there is at least one chassis shop that does the conversion. Expect to pay about 5K for either conversion.

Raindelay- would you please provide us with some details (links, literature) on the 12-bolt swap? Is this a live-axle? Or IRS? I haven't heard of this?

These folks have done a few solid rears in C4's
Carrols Rod & Racecraft

And member ski_dwn_it developed a bolt-in kit.

RUKWKR has a pretty extensive thread about his solid install.

They have all been solid rears (not IRS) to my knowledge. Ford nine inch IRS kits are available, none specific to C4 though as far as I know.

Sorry I'm not able to provide more links to projects done here..I'm in a hotel and the internet sucks, it's slow and trying to use the search here is bad enough as is...
