Default Fuel Pressure Regulator Advice..

Just picked up an '87 Corvette

The car had a miss under just before I got the car, the previous owner took it to a Corvette place out on long island and the guy unplugged the pressure regulator and the miss went away. The car seems to drive ok but is down on power

the car has a mild cam, little head work, and dual exhaust.. should I replace the stock regulator with an adjustable one and bump the fuel pressure up to like 45psi?

and is the fuel pressure set w/ the vacuum line disconnected?

With the mods you may just need a bit more fuel---but your scenario usually means partially clogged/blocked injectors and unplugging the regulator vacuum line increases pressure enough to help "cover up" the injector problem. JMO

his invoice said 'needs adjustable regulator' and i believe he ran the car at 50psi

would it help to swap in my lt4 28lb injectors, or would they be too much?

I believe your stock injectors are 22#. Talk to Jon at FIC about what size to use with your setup. An adjustable regulator is a decent investment. Set the pressure at idle with the vacuum disconnected and plugged. I run my 85 with 24# injectors @ 47 psi. Seems to like it there.

The fuel pressure goes from 40 to 0 in under 2 minutes...

Just pulled the regulator - no rips in the diaphragm or anything

could it be the fuel pump or pulsator? or should i look at the injectors?

if i pinch off the return line with some vise grips near the tank, will that isolate injectors vs fuel pump check valve or pulsator? was that the front or back hose near the gas cap?
