Where is the oil temp sensor on an 92 LT1
I can't even find it listed in the shop manual
Why do I need to change it?
Coolant temp by digital = 180 - 190
Oil Temp by digital gage = 100
I know the darn oil temp is closer to 200!
Any one have pictures of where it is?
TIA!

Yup. In the most impossible place to reach behind the catalytic converter...Has to be done by feel.
Before you change it, though, my '92 does exactly the same thing. I changed my oil temp sensor and the reading didn't change, the gauge still reads very low. I've been told that it's in the dash cluster and that I should wait until something really goes wrong and then have the whole cluster reconditioned.

Could it be dash cluster ground related?
I am getting an intermittent Digital dash ground code.
I will have the exhaust off over the winter and may look for this elusive part then.
Also going to see if I can fix the dash grounds, the lighting is sometimes off.

A bad ground is a possibility, but I cleaned mine when I made the replacement and it didn't change a thing.
