Default Need help 1993 theft deterrent system -

Purchased 1993 corvette - has a resistor link in vats key system. Car starts for a second and dies - suspect theft deterrent system. Evidently the 93 is different from the 89 - cannot use the vats bypass module - so - how do I delete the vats security? Can the ECM E-prom be reprogrammed to omit vats completely or what can I do?

If the car starts, vats is not your problem.
Pull codes, check fuel pressure and report back.
Sounds like the fuel pump is toast or bad fuel filter.

Replaced the fuel pump and filter - one other thing - the security light continues to flash.

I agree with Surfer, it shouldn't be the VATS. Flashing light could be a bad door switch, possible it is unrelated coincidence. Don't assume because the pump is new it is working OK, need to check the pressure and make sure. Were you having this problem before you replaced the filter and pump? (are you sure the filter isn't backwards?)
