1987 alternator wiring
I did an engine swap on a 1987 corvette. The crate motor was turn key and came with a 3 wire alternator. On the original cs130 alternator, it has wires on the "s", "F", and "L" slots. I have two post (besides the batery line) on the new alternator. Any ideas on how to wire it?
Thanks

Thaks for your reply!
Yes it looks like that. It claims it's a 1 wire alternator, but it does have the #1 and #2 slots. Your diagram shows a ground on the right side. I dont have that.

You state in first post, it is a 3 wire alt, and now it's a one wire alt ??
Google, "how to wire a one wire alternator", that should help you.

According to the manufacturer, the alternator can be used as a 1 wire alternator. It also has slot #1 and #2 so it can be used as a 3wire. The alternator is the same as your diagram. I would like to use the original wires that went to the original alternator and wire it as a 3 wire. I want to prevent low rpm charge problems and would like the dummy light and voltage gauge to work. Can I wire the original wires from the harness to the #1 and #2 slots? If so, witch one goes where?
Sorry about the confusion.

I think you should contact the maker, and find out what terminal is what. On my 86, #1 is the field wire and #2 is the sensing wire. Not sure if 87 uses the same alt, but chances are the configuration is the same.
