Default Flowmaster Force II Cat Back Exhaust Question.

I finally had my Flowmaster Cat Back exhaust put on my car it doesn't look good. My one muffler is lower than the other and is the tailpipes stick out about two inches more on one side than on the other. Has anyone put this exhaust system on their car? And did you have any problems installing and lining up the mufflers? The exhaust shop that did the work said that was as good as it gets, and that I sould get tips to line up the pipes. I am frustrated and about to return it and order a Magna Flow exhaust system. Any help would be appreciated. Any opinions on the Maga Flows? :yesnod:

Getting the mufflers to line up should be no problem. Even if it was off a bit any muffler shop could make it perfect with a weld here and a stretch there. I have done many flowmaster installs in my driveway with no problems what so ever. Sounds like your shop was lazy and rushed it.

That's as good as it gets?? I agree about that shop. Either they don't know anything but stock jobs just don't want to take the time.

In either case, I would find a good custom exhaust shop and pay to have em adjusted properly. If you were closer to Tranton, NJ Denny's Mufflex shop would be the place to go. They do great custom fitting/fab work, are very reasonable and stand behind their work. They had to custom cut/fit my TPIS FlowMaster cat-back and got it the way I wanted it to look. I am totally satisfied with the job and the sound.

My Corsa system went in perfect and I did it lying on my back after a hard days work. The shop you went to obviously consists of lazy idiots. If they did the job right everything should line right up.

I have(had) the system on my car. The muffler guy also did a crappy job and one was lower than the other+pointing in an awkward position. He butchered the flow flanges etc. However, the amount the tips stuck out was fine, looked like stock.
It all came back off and I am starting over from scratch. (sig pic has no mufflers)Lex how are you on the way they sound?
BTW, Magnas are "straight-thru" mufflers(a good thing) and our Flows are not. The gases turn a couple angles in the interior of the muffler.

Going to another shop tommorrow to have them done up right. The Flows sound pretty good. I wanted a little louder sound and I was thinking the Magna Flows may sound better. I might just get a higher flow cat to give me a little more power and sound. I eventually want to get headers and that should put me right about where I want to be. :yesnod:

The mufflers can be aligned so they both look equal. There is two adjustment spots. One spot is where the resonator splits left and right. The other is in front of the mufflers themselves, a huge nut that connects it to the hangers. that can be loosened and the muffler can be raised or lowered.

Yes, you need to get new tips and have them welded on so you have equal length when they stick out.

Go to a better muffler shop!

Lexdog, to get more sound install a hi-flow cat, 2 1/2" front Y sans pre-cats and port your stock exhaust manifolds. It will roar.

I had the flowmaster Cat Back (bought it from Summit Racing) installed on my GrandSport. Fits good, sounds great. My only complaint is I don't like the tips. I would think a muffler shop would be able to make adjustments for just about anything.

Good Luck
Dennis

If the shop wont do anything about it. (what a bunch of morons) then put it up on jackstands, Loosen the clamps and push the exhaust around untill it looks correct. I have found that the mufflers themselves are usually to blame they just need to be tweeked.

I also have the flowmaster force II cat back. Installation has a breeze. Did all the work my self w/o welding or anything. Everything aligned perfect. I would go back to the shop and have them redo it for no charge.

Good news everyone. I went to a different muffler shop and my Flows are now perfectly mounted on my car. The guy took his time and measured each muffler and got it lined up great!! I am never going to the other shop again!! I'm still debating on if I am going to get different tips or not. The Flows I got came with stainless steel tips coming from the muffler already. What do you guys think and do any of you have any good places to buy tips from? :yesnod:

Weeeel, I have a set of SS tips from MAD that were on my stock system.

I prefer the black ZR-1 tips that came on the TPIS cat-back so the SS units are back in a box, after about 4mo of use last summer.

What do the tips look like? I have all the MAD catalogs. If you can give me a page number from a certain catalog I can check them out unless you have a pic of them yourself. :yesnod:
