I thought the same thing, but if was going to upgrade, it would bean R&D x brace, it looks a lot more sturdy than a gm brace.

These look like a nice piece though.

This idea is still only one side.

Im not trying to bash the product, just trying to understand the reasoning behind it. Perhaps there is something I am missing.

Jason @ Vett2Vette and Gordan K. are very good friends. I know that for a fact.

I have been to Jason's Shop In Streator many times in the past.

Got to know him some.

He often talked about Gordan K. to me.

Especially when we talked about all time Great Corvette Mechanics we Know in the present and the past.

Powerfull Topic for each of us.

I am a ASE Certified Master Mechanic and Advanced Driveability Specialist and Former GM Dealership Mechanic. I was taught by my deceased friend Bill R. over 20 years knowing one another.
He was a Chevy Dealership Mechanic during the 60's through late 70's and specialized in all repairs on the Corvette.

Jason Especially knows his way around a C4 inside and out.

I am under the asumption that much of Jasons knowledge comes from his time together with Gordan Killebrew.

Just my 2 cents.

If Gordan and Jason are making these C4 Chassis Stiffener Braces,

It is a proven design Just short of a 8 or 10 point Fabricated Rollcage.

I Know Jason and He definately speaks Highly of Gordan K.

Does it work on the C4 Convertible?

Do You lose the Factory X Brace then to mount Gordan's Chassis Stiffener ?

What material are they made out of ?

High tensile strength steel ?

Or are they 4130 or 4140 Chrome Moly Steel Tubing ?

Yes I agree that this would work on an F-body/mustang because there is no frame connecting the front and rear. Our Vettes have a full frame so the front and rear are already connected, which is why I dont this being a big benefit on a C4.

Default frame reinforcement bars

I acquired the first set available from Gordon and have been using them for two years now. I have the patterns to make additional sets. There
is no doubt that there is a noticeable improvement. If you desire a set
contact Gordon and either he or myself can supply a set. You can verify
my claim with Gordon directly. Richard Gatling of Chesapeake with a 94

Richard, would it be possible for me to stop by and take a look at your stiffeners sometime? I live in Newport News.

You have a valid point, but remove the roof panel and watch and feel the chassis flex alot more!Thats just one example.I recall I could not bolt on my targa top on a hill,it had to be on a flat drive! On a hill, the bolt holes would not, line up!

There is a reason the roof panels were bolted on..to add some form of structural integrity.

While the C4 frame was a full length,it had so many welds and flimsy in design the car was water leaker in the rain, and a rattle trap in many problems.Do not also forget the C4 was designed in the late 70's!

Over the years the X brace, front engine brace, and cross brace has been designed to try and minimize the flexing if the body and chassis.
Most of them worked well. The C4 frame needs all the extra help it can get.

I noticed a huge difference with a cross bar brace, and a little with my camber brace.

I think it has to be an H or X shape to really make it a stiff frame.

I had stangs with SFC, and they help, but...

I'd be interested to hear from someone who gets a set and posts their experience. I appreciate the details from those who have them already but it would be good to hear from more 'out in the field' type of experiences.

Hope I am not breaking any rules here but my 91 coupe will be used at Bloomington Gold as a demonstrator. The vendor is giving me a price break on the install but I do not make any commission or kickback etc if anyone buys a set.
Many of you have already guessed the vendor. You can look for this car and see them yourself if you go to the show. I will also submit an article with pics to Corvette Enthusiast magazine. They have published a few of my articles in the past but there is no guarantee that they will publish this story.
I will post up some pics here after I get back home.
