Default Wish your C4 Frame was Stiffer?

I might have your answer..

Currently on my Car are a set of frame brace to help give the C4 a solid frame feel like the C5. These will bolt in any post-86 (uses front X brace bolt points), no drilling required, although there might be an extra hole in the brace that would require one hole to be drilled but would be optional. These braces can be left on while removing exhaust ETC, it is not a cross brace of any type.. The Brace was designed by Gordon Killebrew..

These braces are NOT lower then my exhaust. they are similar to F-body Sub frame connectors (in mounting) and are not X-Braces

So far I have driven 100 miles with the top on but the car is definitely more solid then it was prior.

Need to drive with the top off to see how well it is

in the picture below the car is dirty from rain..

you can see the head of one bolt here on the left and the rod (in black) running length of car..

few more of the one side..

Front Mount:

I would post who makes them, but it does not look like they are a vendor here anymore

Any underside pics? It's kind of hard to tell how this would actually stiffen the chasis.

How much weight do they add? I'd be interested in the vendor details as well. Is this the bit Gordon has been talking about for a few years now?

I don't know on the weight, but yes this is the bit Gordon talked of. he even tested them himself.

The company use to be a sponsor here, not sure if they still are but that are located in Illinois..

Jeff,
Richard, a friend of mine here in town also has a set of those installed on his 94 he obtained from Gordon. He swears by them making the car stiffer.Haven't personally rode in his car yet to feel the difference but the design definitely looks like a cleaner an neater install versus the x brace and ground clearance doesn't appear to be affected since they basically bolt to the side of the frame mounts. His threaded mounting rods look to be anodized with SS threaded turn buckles an locking nuts at both ends for length adjustment.

This wouldn't happen to be the rumored ones said to be made by Vette2Vette Corvette Salvage? Can these be used with the Vert x-Frame in place? If so, I definitely would be interested.

My exhaust is lower then the braces and my car is lowered about 1-1.5"

Don't know, but I have a feeling that one will interfere with the other on the front mounting

Yes is it. They will be at Bloomington and sounds like they will have some kits there

nope, they will not work with the X brace, it is an interference thign with the front mount like I thought in a previous post

How much weight do they add?
Weight is about 42 lbs for all the pieces.

hmm... So I guess this would be useless for someone with a vert that already has an X-brace or is it somehow an improvement over the stock piece?

Just curious as to how this works. Dont the frame rails run front to back? How is adding, what is essentially another rail, going to stiffen the chassis? I can see it making a difference for launches but torsional stiffness would be the same. The idea behind the x brace is to link the two sides together to increas the torsional stiffness. This idea is still only one side.

Im not trying to bash the product, just trying to understand the reasoning behind it. Perhaps there is something I am missing.
