Pete K. 700R4 Alto Red Eagle or Alto Carbon 2-4 Band?
What do You prefer for a 700R4 2-4 Band choice,
The Alto "Red Eagle" Wide Band or the Alto "Carbon" Wide Band ?
I have mixed answers from different Trans Guys.
I have purchased both bands new for my 1987 Corvette Trans rebuild along with a New GM Reverse Input Drum for a New surface for the 2-4 band to ride on.
Thanks, BR

I am not Pete, but I have built several 4l60E-700R4 trannys and always use a Wide red band with a new reverse input drum. It will firm up the shift and hold very good. I have one in my 94 full size Blazer with a 383, 32" tall tires and 4.10's. It will smoke those big tires.
Shifts firm 1-2 2-3 3-4 and TCC. I also use the Z pack in the 3-4 clutch. Also to firm up the 4th shift plug the 4th accumulator feed hole in the case with an allen head set screw, but be sure to reinstall the piston. If you remove the check ball from the end of the input shaft this will firm up the TCC lockup and make it feel like a gear shift. Just a few little tricks that work real nice.

I have used a boatload of the red's and they work fine. During a refresh, I usually change them, but they never have much wear at all.
I have a carbon band in my own car now, and have not had a chance to dive back in it to see how it is holding up.
