You need to find out what's on the car first.

Likely, they are done/trashed.

You will learn in here that shocks opinions are like belly-buttons, we all have one and are all different.

AC Delco
Bilsteins
KB
Edelbrock
There is a member using Monroes

I recommend Bilsteins HD, I use them on my 95 and they are great performance shocks

I think you can have Bilstein rebuild the shocks (at least the fx3).

Depends on the road condition where you live too. We have really rough roads here in California. I just got a pair of Edlebrocks for the rear of my 84 and I love them - my wife even noticed it rode better than the KYB's that were on it. I'll be ordering the matching fronts in a couple of weeks.

They aren't cheap, but they are really nice shocks.
