lt1 Fuel Pump Replacement (with LOTS of pics)
Hey guys, i decided to replace my fuel pump on my 1993 lt1 and show you how to do it, i haven't seen a thread that explains how to do this with pics, so i thought i would start one. hope this helps, was kinda hard to work and take pics at the same time but its for you guys! pump cost me about 85.00 and the screen was about 10.00, about 45-1hr of work. enjoy!
oh and if you guys can tell me how to get this thread to the "sticky" section up top? id it up there to help as many people as possible.

1ST STEP
you want to start off by removing the 4, star pattern screws. and also remove the inner rubber lining that surrounds the cap, should pop out easily, i used a screw driver to run around the edges.
2ND STEP
remove the 3 fuel lines going to the pump. the top main line will most likely shoot out gas, i just pulled it off and redirected the line back into the gas tank to avoid spilling gas everywhere.
3RD STEP
remove the wire connection near the bottom of the fuel pump assembly.
4TH STEP
remove the 8 bolts around the edges
5TH STEP
remove the assembly gently, it will not come straight out.
6TH STEP
remove the clip connecting wires to the top of the pump, then you will need to bend the retainers out of the way to get the fuel pump out, bend the top one out away from the pump and the bottom one away from the pump also, just fold the screen to get through the hole. then remove the pump by sliding it off the pipe on top.
SIDE BY SIDE OF NEW AND OLD PUMP.
7TH STEP
remove the gold/brass colored device from the old pump and install it on the new one like so
OLD PUMP
NEW PUMP
8TH STEP
place the new pump in the place of the old one and bend the retainers in place and sliding the top on the pipe just like the old pump was, then attach the clip to the top, the clip should fit right in place.
9TH STEP
install the pump just how you took it out, be careful not to force it in, let it set into place, the tighten the 8 bolts, re-attach the fuel lines and re attach the wires together and fire it up!

awesome write up! i used the racetronix kit, came with fuel pump, and all new gasket/8 bolts/ hardware, etc. i used a write up on a different website. go to blowerworks.net, then click downloads on the bottom left hand side. about halfway down youll see 89-96 corvette in-tank fuel pump installation guide. when using the racetronix pumps there are minor differences with the installation which are outlined in the blowerworks article

Great write up... I have read somewhere that a newer model year pump has a few more psi than an 87, but I can't find the specifics. I need to change the pump on the 87 and I'm wondering which one to get?
